Great Dog Training Course

If you have a new puppy, you probably need to know more about dog training courses. You have several options open to you. One of the things you can do is try to train the dog by scolding him when he does bad things and praising him when he does good things. You could also hire a professional dog trainer or enroll in a dog training class. Your third option is to combine the two and get professional help from a dog training course like the Secrets to Dog Training.

House training, or potty training, your dog is probably the first thing you need to do. This can be frustrating, but if you have proven techniques, it is much easier. That is why a dog training course is so great.

There is still a lot of training to be done after you have potty training taken care of. You will want to control barking and keep them from jumping on people. You definitely need to make sure the dog doesn’t go around biting people. Nothing turns pet ownership into a nightmare faster than your dog biting somebody who wants to sue you.

There are also some destructive dog behaviors you need to address if your dog has them. Two of the most common are chewing and digging. While digging is mostly an annoyance, chewing can be extremely expensive. All it takes is one pair of good shoes being chewed up and you paid for a dog training course.

Let's go over your options for training your new dog. What many people do is try to teach their dog what they want by showing them what they want, praising them when they do good things, and scolding them when they do bad things. While this can work if you have some experience, it is hard to know what to do if you don’t have a lot of dog training experience. A professional trainer can help you with this. For $100 or so, you can usually get into a dog training class that meets once a week for a month or two. While this price is worth it, what if you could get help from a professional for a lot less money and you could train your dog on your own schedule without having to drive to a class somewhere?

The Secrets to Dog Training offers you a professional dog training course in the comforts of your own home. This program has a money back guarantee and is one of the best selling dog training courses on the internet. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lifetime of good pet behavior to gain!

Chihuahua Training For Spunky Little Dogs

Chihuahua training can be one of the most rewarding things you do with your new (or old) pet. Not only will you wind up with a better pet, you will establish a strong bond with your dog as you go through the training. It is important that you start training your dog as soon as possible because every day you wait is one more day you have to put up with aggression, biting, barking, chewing, jumping, and bathroom “accidents”.

Chihuahua training can present some unique challenges that you don’t get with other dogs. This doesn’t mean that they are bad dogs or you shouldn’t own one, you just need to understand their nature in order to better train one.

These little dogs are fragile. They really are not suited to be around children as kids tend to be a little bit rough on pets and this could seriously hurt or kill a Chihuahua. Even simple things like jumping out of your arms or off the couch can seriously injure this little dog.

Chihuahuas are also one of the hardest dogs to house train. While some dogs will easily take to going outside to go to the bathroom, these little dogs seem to have a hard time grasping the concept that they shouldn’t poop on the floor.

Another potentially troublesome trait for Chihuahua training is stubbornness. These dogs are very smart and have a mind of their own. They also can be manipulative so you have to take a strong hand and be consistent with training. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile.

They are also prone to non stop barking and erratic behavior. While their little bark is cute at first, it can really start to wear on your nerves.

How to Train a Puppy

Learning how to train a puppy is one of the most important things a new pet owner can do. There are many ways you can go about training a puppy and you need to decide what is the best way for you. If you have the time and money, you can use the services of a professional dog trainer. Your other option is to buy one of the programs out there that teach you how to train a puppy. As long as you are willing to put the time in, you really can’t go wrong. My personal preference is to save some money and do the training at home when you have the time instead of having to go some place at a specific time multiple times a week. Click the link to download a great guide on how to train a puppy When you learn how to train a puppy, you will stop or help a whole list of behaviors including:

  • Biting
  • Barking
  • Chewing
  • Aggression
  • Jumping
  • Potty Training

The first thing you probably should do when training a puppy is to potty train him or her. House training is one of the most important and most basic parts of training your new pet. You can teach your new pet to go to the bathroom on a mat in your house, in a specific corner of their kennel, or train them to let you know when they need to go outside to go to the bathroom. Whichever way you choose, with a little patience, you will start off your pet ownership experience on the right foot. After you have toilet training taken care of, you can start teaching your dog to sit, to go for walks, and play nice. You will also want to teach him or her to stop chewing up your shoes and furniture, stop them from jumping on you and anybody that comes over to visit, and reduce the amount of barking they do.

Positive reinforcement is the key to training your new pet. Your pet just adores you and will do anything for your affection so a little bit of love goes a long ways. Your pet will get confused if you yell at them and scold them too much.

I have personally seen puppy training classes transform a dog that was on the verge of being dropped off at the pound into a near perfect dog. We had a tiny little miniature schnauzer that weighed less than 10 pounds, but thought he was king of the world. This was a real problem with our young daughter who he was very aggressive with. He didn’t hurt her, but he thought he was her boss and we were afraid that he eventually would hurt her. After going to puppy training classes and being put in his place by another, larger dog, he has been a great pet.

When you are looking for puppy training classes, the first place to check is your local pet store. Many of the bigger pet stores like PetSmart and lots of smaller ones have in house training classes. They aren’t necessarily put on by employees of the store, but they provide the facilities for a trainer to come in and facilitate the training of your puppy. In most cases, the training won’t be done for you, you will have to do it. The trainer will help you do the right things and also make sure your puppy interacts with the other dogs. The classes will usually be once or twice a week for a month or two and at the end, you should have a well behaved pet for life.

Puppy training classes not only give you a well behaved dog, they also give you an unbreakable bond to your dog. After spending quality time with your bet and watching them get better, you can’t help but form a lasting bond. This goes for home training as well as professional puppy training classes so you really can’t lose either way.

Training Older Dogs

Can you really teach an old dog new tricks? Yes you can, it just takes a little more work training older dogs. There really isn’t much difference between training a puppy and training an older dog, you just have to break more bad habits with an older dog.

If you struggle with any of the following problems, you need some help:

  • Aggression
  • Biting
  • Barking
  • Chasing
  • Chewing
  • Jumping
  • All Bad Behaviors

The first 20 weeks of a puppies life is his most valuable learning time. A puppy’s brain is like a sponge, soaking up all of the information it can. Training older dogs takes a little longer because their sponge isn’t so absorbent.

You also have to deprogram older dogs or teach it how to break old bad habits. This is usually the hard part. There are many products out there that will help your dog break its bad habits.

For example, if you have a dog that barks constantly you can try a special collar that will give it a little electrical jolt every time it barks. If you think that’s a little too harsh you can buy a collar that sprays citronella (a scent that dogs don’t like) every time they bark. It’s more of a puff of citronella air then an actual liquid spray. Since the dog doesn’t like the smell it avoids barking.

House Training a Dog

Are you desperate to have a well behaved indoor dog? If so, house training a dog is probably at the top of your to do list. I am going to give you some helpful information here then leave a link at the bottom to a great resource for helping you learn about house training a dog.

The biggest part of house training a dog is teaching him or her not to go to the bathroom on the floor. Another thing you want to do when house training a dog is stop it from chewing up your shoes and furniture. This goes against the nature of a dog so you have to overcome the dogs instincts. The good news is that with a little love and affection, your dog will completely change what its instincts tell it to do just to make you happy.

The first thing you will want to do when house training a dog is teach the dog where to go to the bathroom. There are 3 basic types of potty training you can choose. First, you can teach your dog to use a mat in your house. This option is very popular for people that don’t have easy access to an outdoor area where a dog can go to the bathroom or if your dog has to spend a long time alone while you are at work. If your dog spends a lot of time in a kennel, you can teach him or her to go in one corner of the kennel. This is very similar to training a dog to use a mat, but a little messier. This is probably the least popular method of dog training because it is messier and most people don’t have a large kennel area to keep their dogs in. The last method of house training your dog is to teach him or here to go to a door and let you know that he or she has to go the bathroom and needs to be taken out. This is probably the most prevalent method of potty training a dog.

Some other things house training a dog can do for you is to stop chewing things up, reduce barking, teach the dog where it is supposed to go and where it is supposed to stay away from, and a host of other behavior changes to make you life better.
